Mangan, 4 han 40 fu with one red five! busting my shimocha in south 2!
That is one of my rankup game in riichi mahjong, just wanna put it at the start of this blog because it is awesome!
Lets get back to the blog... My newest project is called xc_kanji! why is the name you ask? because the map is based on four kanji that I choose, all of them has similarities to the first kanji that is water or 水. This map is quite simple since the layout of it was made in around a week, super fast isn't it? basically I made the kanji image first using image editing software with 1:1 aspect ratio that can be 512x512 or 1024x1024, after that I made it to vtf so the engine can read it, next is to open hammer and then make a 1:1 brush. After all of that is done now we make the base layer of the kanji! and after that we will skip this, since if I describe it all the way to the end this blog will be quite long. Explaining it using an image would be faster! here, have a look below to see the progress of it.
Easy right...?
If you ask someone that use the hammer editor, they probably wouldn't say this is easy... Not the making of it, but the process of making it since using the hammer editor will make you lose motivation blazingly fast since it is an ancient software to begin with. But thanks to one person that makes the editor more usable in this day and age with the creation of hammer++ that is ficool2, shoutout to him! debugging is faster with the help of the updated hammer editor. Anyway if you played the map before reading this blog, you would probably notice that the route of the map follows the stroke order of the kanji and if you look it from above using noclip, you will see that the map is just basically four big kanji characters with xc gameplay built on top of it! awesome concept isn't it? and I made it work so I think I deserve some praise hehehe...
If you like the map, feel free to share it with your friends and play the map! since it is easy I think, and some of the later parts that is a bit harder doesn't have a restriction that is the longjump section! feel free to bhop if it is too hard... no one is stopping you to enjoy the map and have fun!!! let me know what your thoughts about it!
Wanted to get this out around mid-March but ended up releasing the map late-March, but it is fine for me as long as it get released on March. Also there aren't any development screenshots since the map was made pretty fast and I don't put much thoughts on documenting it so there is only map screenshot. The last blog I mentioned that "I want to make map that caters to me, or what makes it interesting and fun to me, that way I could make a map that I enjoy making and maybe other people will enjoy it the same as me!" this apply here but with some added adjustment, that I want to make a map that relates to me or what is happening to me, since without using this three, I wouldn't released this map! The map theme this time is kanji, do you know why is it kanji? it is because I am planning to take the JLPT test this year, and I am trying to lock-in with studying so I can pass the N5 test in July, hopefully I can pass it!
Thanks for reading! This one is shorter than before, I hope you don't mind about it. Here is a thumbnail of the map since I don't know what to put anymore 草.
