Polusi - Part One

No mahjong story in the first part, I will add them in the second part, do not worry!

It has been 3 months since my last map that is xc_kanji, I want to make this blogpost short.
I will only talk about the map name and the theme of the map! the technical part and other story is on part two!

Here is the thumbnail of the map before we get into the story about the map name and the theme of the map

The name of the map is based on Indonesian word polusi or pollution in English and that also correlate with the theme of the map that I will talk about next. If you saw the thumbnail above and see the Japanese text that says urusai or noisy in Japanese, but this is not the right word to use it, since the right word to use it is 煩い or うるさい. People usually use the latter or hiragana form on day to day basis rather than using the kanji form. But the Japanese word that I put on the thumbnail is still correct or you can say another way to say it since it means somewhat the same that is noisy, loud or annoying. The kanji character literally mean 五 = 5, 月 = Month, 蝿 = Fly (Insect) if you combine it, it will say "May flies" since the word comes from the image of flies swarming and buzzing loudly around June (May in old/lunar calendar). One of the reason I used the name Polusi is because I wanted to name my map with Indonesian language since I was born here, my last two map name is already using English and Japanese so why not my third map use Indonesian? Fun fact if you decompile the map and take a look on the file name or you try to check the entity name ingame, it will says that the project name is heyfumi_urusai since I am still not sure what to name the map so you can say that before polusi, the map internal name is urusai. Hence why I put the word on the thumbnail of the map.

The theme of the map is polusi informasi or information pollution. The reason I started this map is I wanted to experiment with new stuff that is making a classic xc map with a gimmick, the gameplay is mostly your usual old xc map with the point a to point b from bottom to top goal with the classic cone jump that you will see on old xc map, I liked the cone part since it is very awkward and there is no reason to put it there since it will break the aesthetic of the map super fast, but that is one of the charm of old map, people experiment or do whatever they liked without needing to cater to other people specific to make the map that they wanted, as long as they are having fun playing their own map and release it, that is one of the point in making map is it not? anyway before making this, I was doing an in real life experiment that is not opening certain social media to limit what information comes into my brain. My ranking of the most information pollution social media from worst to less worst are TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube? my best record is around 2 months without using TikTok and Instagram if I recall correctly, and around 1 month or less without using Twitter and Facebook iirc. For YouTube, I just disabled watch history and other stuff so when I open YouTube it will be blank page and I need to search stuff to watch a video, YouTube shorts only works on the clicked short or my subscription. The result? I get my stuff done faster, my brain feels better, the dopamine hit is less frequent, and I do not miss out on a lot of stuff that I was worried about before. The gimmick of this map is the longer you play it the more it will spew random information ranging from worthless to important, the more the information pops out the noisy the background noise is, but you can counter this by shooting the information. Is it over? not really, they will keep spawning until you fix the root problem of it that is finishing the map! if you already played the map before reading this you know what will happen, but if you have not, try playing it now! since I do not want to spoil the ending of the map.

Think this is short enough for now, the part two of this blog will be released somewhere around July hopefully, it will explain the development process and some other stuff! also mahjong story at the start because I like Riichi Mahjong!
